STUDENT LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM (SLRP)

The SLRP will continue to pay 15% or $500 per loan annually, whichever is greater. The annual $3500 cap is lifted and the lifetime cap of $20K remains. If members have remaining eligibility and loan balance for the SLRP next FY, we will continue to pay their loans.

RETRAINING

The National Guard Bureau has tightened the waivers for members retraining to allow them to stay on bonuses. I've put in several the last month and they have been turned down. Bottom line if you are in a bonus AFSC you are committed to that AFSC for the six years. Members can only be considered for a bonus at the time of reenlistment and they must have a three level in the bonus AFSC.

Exciting news for our non-prior service enlistments

Recently the policy changed for the age cutoff of non-prior service. Applicant must be at least 17 years old, but not have reached age 40 on date of enlistment. The age was moved from 35 to 40.

This change can be found in in IC-1 to ANGI 36-2002, Enlistment and Reenlistment in the Air National Guard and as a Reserve of the Air Force effective 11 Aug 2009.

Please only put the above, the below is the information from the regulation.

If you have any questions, please contact Master Sgt. Norma Long.

11 AUGUST 2009 SUMMARY OF CHANGES
This interim change implements the new guidelines for the Increased Maximum Initial Enlistment Age 40 for Air National Guard, paragraph 1.6.1. An asterisk (*) indicates newly revised material.
*1.6.1. Non-Prior Service (NPS). Applicant must be at least 17 years old, but not have reached age 40 on date of enlistment. Parental consent is required for those who are 17, but less than 18 years of age, unless married. (See DD1966, Section VII, Items 39 and 40
WAIVERS OF THIS PROVISION WILL NOT BE GRANTED.
