Col. Brian Carloni is the Commander of the 157th Air Refueling Wing, Pease Air National Guard Base, New Hampshire. Prior to this role, Carloni was the Director of Staff-Air, New Hampshire National Guard-Joint Force Headquarters, located in Concord, New Hampshire. He served as the Air representative to the Joint Staff and as a direct liaison to The Adjutant General on all matters relating to Air operations. Col. Carloni maintains qualifications as a KC-46A Instructor Pilot and is a key component for the training and evaluation of the KC-46 In-Flight Refueling crew force.
Col. Carloni began his Air Force career after receiving his commission from Norwich University in 2002. Upon graduation he attended Initial Air Battle Manager School at Tyndall Air Force Base, FL where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate. In 2003 Col. Carloni was assigned to Robins AFB, GA, where he became a Flight Commander and E-8 JSTARS Air Battle Manager Instructor. In 2008, Col. Carloni left Active Duty and joined the New York Air National Guard at Griffiss IAP in Rome, NY. While at Griffiss, Col. Carloni worked as an Air Weapons Officer for the Northeast Air Defense Sector where he helped oversee the air defense of all airspace in the Eastern United States. In 2009, Col. Carloni applied and was selected for a pilot position with the New Hampshire Air National Guard. In 2010, Col. Carloni graduated UPT as a Distinguished Graduate and went on to Altus AFB, OK for KC-135R Initial Co-Pilot School. In 2013 Col. Carloni worked as Chief of Mission Development and was vital to the NHANG debut of the PEX system. In 2014 he joined the Northeast Tanker Task Force where he was a detail planner; in this role he planned tanker support for Coronet missions supporting the Total Force, Combatant Commanders, and Coalition Forces. He then became the Chief of Training in 2015 highlighted by a year where the NHANG achieved the highest aircraft utilization rate in the Enterprise. Col Carloni was selected as the Director of Operations in 2018 and served in that role until his selection as the 157th Operations Support Squadron Commander in 2020. From June 2022 to June 2024, Col Carloni commanded the 157th Operations Group overseeing the operations of 12 x KC-46 assigned aircraft and four operational squadrons.
Col. Carloni has served on Active Duty in the United States Air Force. He has also served on traditional drill status, as a Federal Technician, and as a full time (AGR) member of the Air National Guard.
