The 157th Air Refueling Wing Recruiting and Retention (R&R) team traveled to the 158th Fighter Wing Burlington, Vt., last month for a training and team building experience. While in Vermont, the team collaborated with the 157 FW's R&R team to exchange techniques, experiences, R&R strategies and much more.

Throughout the week each recruiter and retainer was paired up with his/ her counterpart in their respective sections to job shadow. During the job shadows both teams offered valuable insight of current R&R strategies and offered perspective advice on how to overcome current obstacles, and ways to increase productivity.

As a successful week of job shadowing and knowledge exchange neared an end, Col. Patrick Guinee, 158 FW commander, met with the 157 ARW R&R team expressing his gratitude, and sharing his vision on the importance of recruiting and retaining our members to the vital security of our nation.

The week came to a close with seven of the Region five R&R superintendents (RRS) and their spouses, gathering to provide mentorship for newly appointed RRS's. They discussed topics such as: improving networking, regional repositioning and enhancing strategic planning for national input. The meeting at the end of a successful training week provided valuable insight to the local community and helped to ensure the values of "guard family" are never lost at the heart of the training.
