The 157th Medical Group will conduct their annual Point of Dispensing, also known as POD, exercise using the seasonal flu vaccine Nov. 1 during the November Unit Training Assembly.

Dispensing of the vaccine will begin in Hanger 251 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. This vaccine is a mandatory for all military members. If members have been vaccinated already by an outside source such as at a local pharmacy, they must provide proof of vaccination to the medical group.

The timing of flu is unpredictable and can vary from season-to-season. Flu activity most commonly peaks in the United States in January or February. However, New Hampshire has already seen some seasonal flu activity this year.

Vaccination through outside pharmacies should be free for military members. Because this is a mandatory vaccine, any member not attending the annual POD exercise and/or not providing proof of vaccination elsewhere, will be considered non-compliant.

After being vaccinated, all members are required to wait approximately 15 minutes prior before leaving the Hanger. This time will be utilized to train and familiarize members of the wing with the Automatic External Defibrillator, or AED.
